Welcome
Welcome to the Bio-Nano-Photonics Symposium at Cardiff University!
The Symposium is structured in two days, on the 13 and 14 of September 2011. The first day will focus on applications of nanoparticles to biology, the second day will be on the subject of biophotonics. On each day there will be two Keynote speakers of international reputation and the rest will be contributed talks and posters. A small number of contributed talks will be upgraded to invited, and there will be a poster prize.
There is a small registration fee per single-day event which can be attended separately, but participation to both days is encouraged. The intention is that this event will be the first of a regular annual series.
Contributions are welcome on the following subject areas:
- Nanoparticles in the life sciences:
- synthesis, functionalization and bio-conjugation
- optical properties
- bio-compatibility and nano-toxicity
- applications in biosensing, bioimaging, drug delivery and similar
- Biophotonics:
- advances in optical microscopy/spectroscopy techniques for cells and tissues
- optical manipulation and trapping
- optical biosensors
